About Jerry

He addresses this quandry of :

Gosh this dog is a lot of work. I don't know why we do it, except for the "magic love"
that dogs give us in return for even a little kindness.

Personal Life

Jerry Wayne Baldwin was born in Roanoke, Virginia, and is the proud father of three sons, two cats – Jumbo and Borders, and two dogs. Knuckles is a West German Working Stock German Shepherd and Kipper is a Red and White Border Collie who excels in waking the household up at 4 a.m. to herd imaginary sheep!

Besides being a talented writer, Jerry and his youngest son Zach provide music ministry around Roanoke, VA in a Christian duo called Healing Reign Music at local churches and at homeless shelters. Jerry plays the guitar, piano and provides vocals and is accompanied by Zach, who has prodigy-type talent on the piano.

My Story

I always had a knack for rhyming, but in 2014 poems began popping into my head. It may have been due to my new connection with dogs. The love for man’s best friend inspired me to become an author. I view it as a gift and inspiration from God.

Jerry was awarded a place in the top 25% in his genre by fellow authors at the Pen Factor for his first book This K-9 of Mine.

In addition to creating poems about our loveable furry friends that are enjoyed worldwide, Jerry also creates spirit-filled devotional poems. A new book called God’s Way in 60 Days is in the works. Follow Jerry to be notified when more of his poems are published.

As I peer into the eyes of my best friend, who is effectively helping me through a rough patch in my life, I can’t help but wonder, what if he was suddenly not here to help me through?

The void that would remain would be threefold because I would be without a friend, a counselor who never gives bad advice, and most of all a companion, and that leaves me asking the question, “What would I do without you?

What Readers Are Saying

I never write reviews!

I had to get another of Mr. Baldwin’s books as I so enjoyed the first one. Being written from the dog’s point of view is so different than many books written about dogs. He seems to be able to write what you would think a dog would be thinking about. It’s very insightful and enjoyable to read.

I hope he continues to write his stories for others to enjoy. I’m sure everyone who’s a dog lover would find these short stories entertaining to read.

Review of This K-9 Of Mine

Another wonderful read! I love the way Jerry Wayne Baldwin thinks! He must have been a canine in a previous life. He makes us realize how devoted and precious our pets truly are. A must read for any animal lover!

Review of This K-9 of Mine

Jerry’s poetic stories are heartwarming and encouraging. They bring comfort to your heart when you have lost your best friend. They bring laughter to you when you are dealing with the everyday antics of your best friend. Seeing the world through your dog’s point of view is both enlightening and even funny at times. Trust me when I say that you will love Jerry’s books.
